Sync external calendars

Sync external calendars

One of the features of Journey is that it can read calendars and events from the calendar accounts that are synced with your device (iPhone, iPad or Mac), provided that you have given permission to our app to access them. This means that if you have synced your calendar accounts with your device and have granted permission to Journey to access them, you'll be able to view all of your events and calendars within our app.

However, please note that if the calendar accounts are not synced with your device or if you haven't granted permission to our app to access them, they will not be visible on Journey. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you have synced all the calendar accounts you want to access with your device and that you've granted permission to our app to access them in order to have access to all of your events and calendars within Journey.

⚠️
To ensure calendars are sync’d in Moleskine Journey check if you granted the related permission first.

Frequently Asked Questions

đź’Ą
I've updated to iOS 17 and now I can't see my calendars in the Moleskine Journey app. How do I fix this?
  1. First, uninstall and reinstall the Moleskine Journey app by going to the App Store, typing 'Moleskine Journey' in the search bar, and downloading the app again.
  2. After reinstalling, log in using the same account as before. You can find your account name within the app settings. Normally, the app should ask for your permissions again and everything should start working correctly.
  3. If you don't see the request for permissions after logging in, you will likely need to reset your iPhone settings. To do this:
    • Navigate to your iPhone Settings.
    • Search for the 'Reset' option.
    • Click 'Reset Location and Privacy'.
  4. Open the Moleskine Journey app again, and you should see the request for permissions. If you still don't see it:
    • Click on the three lines at the bottom left of the main screen to access the app's settings.
    • Click on 'Calendars' to force the request.

1. Why can't I see my calendars or events on Journey?

If you're having trouble seeing your calendars or events on Journey, it's important to note that they won't be visible if they're not visible in the default Apple Calendar app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. If they are not even visible in the default Apple app, it's very likely that you need to synchronize your calendar accounts on your device (as shown in the 2nd paragraph of this guide).

If you're only seeing your calendars and events in the Apple Calendar app and not in Journey, you'll need to grant Journey permission to access your calendars. To do this, please follow the instructions at the top of this page in the paragraph "1. Grant permission”

2. Sync issues between iPhone, iPad and MAC

âť—
When you edit an event in an external calendar account (like Google, Exchange, or Yahoo!), it may take some time for the update to be synchronized between all the devices in which the account is registered. This delay is often caused by the service that provides the calendar, and unfortunately, it's not something that we can control. You may notice that even when you check the default Apple Calendar app, the updates aren't reflected immediately.

It's important to note that even manual sync may not resolve the issue, because it doesn't directly control the synchronization of calendars and events. If you can't see the latest updates in Journey, it may also indicate that those updates haven't been synced with your device yet. We recommend checking the default Calendar app to see if the updates are there, as our app relies on the same data source as the default calendar app.

If your calendars or events are not synced between your iPhone, iPad and Mac please check this points.
